From ocean waves:
Ends and adjacent centers turn half.
New centers meet and turn 3/4.
New very centers meet and turn 1/2 while the ends turn in to form stars.
Stars turn 3/4; the very centers are now "leaders" (original out-facing centers).
Leaders proceed to circle the other star, others follow.
Each leader and the immediate follower flip to become the far center and end of a wave.
Last two followers become the near center and end of the resulting wave.
